Wiki Loves Earth 2024 in Sweden

Wiki Loves Earth is an international photographic competition to promote natural heritage sites around the world through Wikimedia projects (mainly Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons), and this is the Swedish version. Everybody can participate! There are a lot of natural heritage sites in Sweden, and the goal of Wiki Loves Earth is to encourage people to take pictures of those natural sites, and to put them under a free license so that others may access them through the Internet. The contest will take place from May 1 to May 31 2024.

In May, you may upload as many pictures as you want of natural sites that you have visited. The pictures don't have to be taken in May, but must be uploaded during that month to be considered. Provide your photo with {{Wiki Loves Earth 2024|SE}} template. At the end of the month, the contest jury will begin evaluating the photographs and will choose the best 15 pictures (divided in the categories landscape and macro) of the natural sites in Sweden, and ultimately in the world.

Why participate?

Sweden is a large country, covered with nature. In every corner, there are spots in the nature well worth a visit. This competition is a great opportunity to bring your camera, go to the natural heritage sites listed, take some photos and show the planet from your point of view to the rest of the world!

Participating in the competition is a great way to experiment and learn which photos that gain recognition. You certainly don't need to be a professional photographer to take photos useful for Wikipedia. Here's a great chance to try it out! Entries to the local competition are eligible for selection to the international finale and did we mention there are prices to win?

Wikimedia Sverige also has a technology pool with several cameras and lenses that we can lend. Read more about them, how you could use them for Wiki Loves Earth, and other tips and ideas for WLE 2024 here.

Help

  • Use this map to find natural heritage sites close to you. If you allow the map to use your location you might see green and blue areas close to you. Blue areas are without photos and green areas already have some images, but images from all areas are welcome in the contest.
You don't know where protected areas are located? This map shows all European protected areas.
